Paris, France is known for the Eiffel Tower, Mona Lisa at the Louvre, fabulous French cuisine, and as the future home of the 2024 Summer Olympic but, this last December, it was the home to something more impactful to us scouts, the 4th World Scout Education Congress. Over 500 leaders, from all over the world, gathered in Paris to discuss the future of scouting’s role in non-formal education.
12 years ago, I was on my way to attend the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. As I prepare to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree, I wanted to take a moment and reflect on that trip and everything I’ve been able to do in Scouting since then.
One of the things I was told regularly in the lead up to the WSJ in 2011, was that I was about to have a “once in a lifetime opportunity”. And that was true, it was the only time I would be able to attend a World Scout Jamboree as a participant. But looking back now, more than being “once in a lifetime” that jamboree was a “life changing” experience for me.

Service Award. He received the Messengers of Peace Hero award from
the royal family of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and he’s a life member of
the 101st Airborne Association and Vietnam Veterans Association. Barnes

He has more than 40 years of experience in the oil, gas, and energy fields, including serving as a president, owner, and CEO. Adams has also received multiple service awards from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
