  • Pencils, one for each Cub Scout
  • Printer
  • Crayons or markers, enough to share

Before the meeting:

  1. Print one copy of the Think Like a Fish worksheet for each Cub Scout. You can also create your own cards with information about the fish in your local area.

During the meeting:

  1. Explain that during the meeting, Cub Scouts will be learning about fish environments.
  2. Hand out a worksheet and pencil to each Cub Scout.
  3. Say the following: “You are a fish today! I want you to think about what might try to eat you or what you are afraid of. As you pretend to be this fish, also think about where you might like to hide from bigger fish, birds or even large mammals, like bears! You also don’t like the sun because you have a hard time controlling your body temperature, where might you find shade? A rock? A pier? A stump? Such hard questions being a fish. As you answer the questions on your worksheet, think about what you might look like and where you live. After everyone is finished, we will share it with each other.”
