Program Curriculum Director
Position Overview
The Program Curriculum Director for Scouting America is a pivotal leadership role that oversees and leads efforts focused on the design, development, and implementation of educational programs that align with our mission for new and existing Scouting America Programs. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, youth program and national educational experts, this position ensures that all programs are both innovative and effective in meeting the diverse needs of our audience.
This role requires a strategic thinker ready to make a significant impact by leading curriculum development efforts at our organization. The Program Curriculum Director reports to the Director of New Programs.
Responsibilities
- Develops curriculum to meet the needs of today’s youth in new programs being tested and piloted in Scouting America.
- Continually reviews and updates curriculum in current youth programs of Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, and Venturing.
- Constantly monitors, reviews, and updates all Scouts BSA merit badges to ensure the inclusion of world-class resources for each badge. Works across multiple teams to convert all merit badges and their resources into digital. Recruits and works with volunteer teams for each merit badge to be nimble in updating requirements, resources, and the addition of new relevant topics/badges.
- Be accountable for proven measurable results in numbers of new youth engaging with the curriculum & earning advancement in Scouting.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, curriculum development, or program delivery. Must have experience of 5 years or more as a a staff leader.
- Must pass a criminal history background check.
Preferences: Current Scouting America employee or significant Scouting volunteer experience.
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.
