Position: Electrician
Position location: Cimarron, New Mexico (NM)
Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join our team at Philmont Scout Ranch. As a vital member of our maintenance team, you be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment at the High Adventure Base, supporting the overall mission of providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Your expertise will play a crucial role installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment at the High Adventure Base. Additionally, you will be instrumental in troubleshooting electrical issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The Electrician will work closely with other maintenance staff and report to the Supervisor of Facility Services. This position reports to the Manager of Facilities – Philmont Scout Ranch.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to complete projects and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed.
  • Respond to emergency electrical issues promptly.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of electrical upgrades and new installations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalency.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed electrician.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check and have a clean driving record.

Preferences:

  • Experience working in a camp or outdoor recreational setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of multi-repeater radio communication systems.

 

Licenses

Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program.

 

Preferences:

  • Current New Mexico electrical license or the ability to obtain a license. Knowledge of multi-repeater radio communication systems.
