The Development Director will lead comprehensive fundraising operations for the council, including annual giving, major gifts, capital support, endowment growth, special events, and foundation support. This role will also strengthen stewardship efforts to build trusted relationships with donors. This is a dynamic opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to expand the Great Rivers Council’s programs.

Serving over 2,500 youth members and 1,000 volunteers across central and northeast Missouri, the Great Rivers Council, based in Columbia, Missouri, offers a rewarding opportunity for a goal-oriented leader ready to make a significant impact.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate on donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual and major gift prospects.
  • Work with board and volunteer leadership to implement fund development initiatives in alignment with the council’s strategic plan.
  • Plan and execute annual giving, major gifts, special events, grants, and donor cultivation.
  • Recruit, train, and lead volunteer committees for fundraising initiatives.
  • Support the Board of Directors in fund development efforts.
  • Strengthen annual giving strategies to increase donor contributions and expand the donor base.
  • Cultivate new funding sources from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
  • Oversee fundraising data management, gift processing, and donor records in CRM software.
  • Ensure compliance with council gift policies and acknowledgment procedures.
  • Track and report progress toward fundraising goals.
Education
  •  Bachelor’s degree
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully securing sponsorships, leading events, and developing sustainable donor relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, CRM software, social media management, and creative marketing tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
  • CFRE designation or ability to work towards certification.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities and projects.
  • Ability to travel within council territory and work evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary or Salary Range: We offer a highly competitive salary range of $70,000-$84,000, commensurate with your experience and expertise.

Adams has also received multiple service awards from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
