Position Overview

The Gamehaven Council has a proud history and a positive future. Our Scouting philosophy and the decisions that are made are based on positive Scout experiences for our youth. This position provides leadership within the council’s geographic territory and will manage a District Executive. A successful individual will have the ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers to oversee the continued success, growth, and development of Scouting within the Gamehaven Council’s three districts.

Responsibilities

Must be relatable, and have the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire change. A growth mindset is critical and expected. Scouting is evolving – the successful candidate will need to embrace changes while growing brand identity and participation. Strong relationship building experience is necessary. Convincing units to recommit to meaningful unit program, and participation in council programing is a critical component of our growth and retention plans.

Primary Relationships:

The position reports to the Scout Executive. The position has one direct report and works with other GHC staff in various areas. Outside of operations, the position interacts with Scouting volunteers, community resources, schools, potential charter partners as well as council committee members.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Growing membership within the council.
  • Maintains a professional working climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates staff as well as volunteers.
  • Grow product sale and Friends of Scouting campaigns.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality unit programs that lead to increased retention within the council.
  • Ensure unit needs are addressed quickly and resolved through volunteer and staff support.
  • Ensure that Scouting programs are safe and follow applicable standards.
  • Manage monthly Roundtables and best practices sharing to closely cultivate relationships with unit leaders and unit commissioners.
  • Give leadership to the assigned committees as their staff advisor.

  • Keep current Youth Protection Training and attend professional training as needed.

Physical Requirements
  • Reaching, standing, walking, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing.
  • Sedentary work, computer keyboarding, occasional lifting of boxes, files and equipment (up to 50 pounds).
  • Reading, detail work, confidentiality, stress, problem solving, language, training, math, reasoning, verbal communication, written communication, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment, continual change.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

He is the founder of Caljet, one of the largest independent motor fuels terminals in the U.S. He has served the Arizona Petroleum Marketers Association, Teen Lifeline, and American Heart Association. A triathlete who has completed hundreds of races, Alexander has also mentored the women’s triathlon team at Arizona State University.

He has more than 40 years of experience in the oil, gas, and energy fields, including serving as a president, owner, and CEO. Adams has also received multiple service awards from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.
