Organization Adopts the Program
After meeting with the head of the organization and reviewing the
organization's goals and how Scouting can help meet those goals, ask
for a commitment from the organization to adopt Scouting.
Appointing the Organizing Committee
The organization head appoints a Chartered Organization Representative,
who serves as head of the organizations' scouting program, and an organizing
committee of three to five people who will plan the next few steps. The committee
probably will include some parents of potential Scouts. The new-unit organizer
should schedule a meeting with the organizing committee as soon as
possible. This organizing committee will work out details and plan the
recruitment of unit leadership.
It is important that the organization head appoint the members of
the organizing committee so that committee members will know that they
have the chartered organization's support.
Members of the organizing committee may become unit committee
members.
