National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience

The National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE) is the ultimate in training experiences for youth leaders. It is conducted for older Scouts who have the potential for being on the staff of the council junior leader training or youth leader training conference. The camp is held at the Rocky Mountain Camp, approximately two miles from base camp and situated in the beautiful foothills viewing the Tooth of Time.

Who May Participate?

To be able to participate in NAYLE, participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have attained First Class rank or higher.
  • Be 14 years old by the opening day of the course but not yet 18.
  • Have completed council JLT or YLT course
  • Be willing to become a youth trainer for the local council.
  • Be proficient in Scouting skills.
  • Meet Philmont Level A physical requirements.

What Is the Cost?

The fee for the six-day course is $320 (2008 season). A payment of $100 is due with the application, with the balance due by May 1. The cancellation fee is $75 nonrefundable per person.
