National Parent Leadership Month
Get Ready to Recognize Parent Leaders!
The Boy Scouts of America is very pleased to partner with Parents Anonymous
Inc. as a cosponsor of National Parent Leadership Month in February 2005. This
important initiative will include a series of national, state, and local
activities to recognize, honor, and celebrate parents for their leadership
roles in their homes and communities.
The purpose of National Parent Leadership Month is to raise public awareness
about the important roles parents play in shaping the lives of children and
families, expand opportunities for parent leaders to participate in meaningful
leadership activities, recognize individual parent leaders whose contributions
make a positive difference to their families and communities, build successful
partnerships between parent leaders and professionals to strengthen and support
families and communities, and highlight how parent leadership is a vital child
abuse prevention strategy.
In addition to the partnership with Parents Anonymous Inc., we are pleased to
join a strong group of cosponsors such as the Office of Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention, U.S. Department of Justice; National Head Start
Association; the National PTA; Girl Scouts of the USA; the National Alliance of
Children's Trust and Prevention Funds; Federation of Families for Children's
Mental Health; The Collaboration to AdoptUSKids; National Child Abuse Coalition;
Annie E. Casey Foundation; and numerous other prestigious organizations.
Parents Anonymous Inc. has developed a Tool Kit with extensive resources to
plan and organize activities for National Parent Leadership Month. Copies of
this Tool Kit can be downloaded through the Parents Anonymous Inc. Web site at
