Celebrating 100 Years — A Shining Light

On July 31, 2010, “A Shining Light Across America” created a unique opportunity to bring the entire Scouting family together for a memorable and meaningful shared celebration. The global broadcast of the 2010 National Scout Jamboree’s Centennial Celebration Show from Fort AP Hill, Virginia, was a historic first for the BSA, the largest—and first virtual—gathering in 100 years.

By broadcasting on BYUtv, streaming online via Ustream, and offering via satellite, Scouts, Scouting volunteers, alumni, families and community supporters alike were able to join in the festivities. In fact, hundreds of local councils across America came together in venues large and small to host their own Shining Light activities leading up to the event.

We hope you were able to join us as we celebrated our rich heritage, our core values, our role in shaping America's youth, and the launch of our second century of service. If you missed the big event, it’s not too late to watch. You can view the archived version of “A Shining Light Across America” right here.
